Talent refers to a person’s innate performance in a certain aspect that exceeds beyond the normal level. It is a special ability bestowed by the Heavens, and it is also a precious gift from the divine to us. Everyone wants to get this gift, to have a unique talent that is unmatched. Our parents will hope their children will have talent. For example, my child is gifted in studying and ranks highly in school; My child is athletically gifted, runs like the wind and is a constant winner in sports competitions; My child has a talent for social interaction, is very eloquent and often represents the school in various speech contests; My child has a talent in drawing, vivid and alive, and can always do well in drawing competitions.

In short, people with talent have a higher probability of success in the struggle of life. But there are also people who feel pessimistic about not having any talent. In fact, in my opinion, all people have their own unique talents to varying degrees. I even think it is a gift to be able to fall asleep anytime, anywhere; we must know that many people are faced with the problem of insomnia.

Confucius said: “When three people walk together, there must be my teacher.” In fact, everyone has something worth learning from. Talent sometimes doesn’t jump out on its own and say, “I’m here I’m here,” it’s more like a somewhat shy, withdrawn kid hiding somewhere inside a corner of your heart.

Another person’s behavior will definitely has something worth learning from. Learn from other’s good points, and reflect upon their shortcomings, and change oneself for the better. ]

Talent does not appear for no reason, or its to say, its extremely difficult to get talent recognized. It’s like a child who is very talented in painting and eventually becomes a world-famous painter. People will say that he is really talented. But if this child failed to become a well-known painter, but engaged in other industries, and his life was ordinary, did he live up to his talent? Or is he just not talented enough?

If you ask me, “What talent does San Jian have?” I really can’t answer that. Because the world always measures people’s talent by their success in an industry. So here I want to discuss with you, how to find your talent and grasp it firmly.

I think a word that can be connected with “talent” and is very close is “love”. If you love a certain cause, you will have the motivation to move forward and be willing to overcome all difficulties for it.

I can’t imagine your talent isn’t something you love. Like I said before that love is the driving force of everything, can you imagine that Beethoven didn’t love music or playing the piano? Can you imagine that Van Gogh didn’t love painting? Can you imagine that Einstein didn’t like Physics? I foolishly think that talent shows that you love a thing enough, imagine if your love is not directed towards your talent, what a sad story that is.

There is also another possibility that you do not know or recognize your own talent, and you need a guide to lead you to find it. This is “A Thousand Mile horse is easy to find, the discoverer (Bole) is hard to find”, you need a Bole who can recognize talent and supports you.

Often the task of helping us discover talent falls on our parents, and education during childhood is especially important. Parents should give their children more choices, instead of forcing them to study extracurricular subjects that they are not interested in, as this way is difficult to find ways to reveal their children’s talents. Its better to see what does the child like? What are they interested in? What are they willing to spend time on? Maybe one does not have enough talent in this area, but if you’re willing to put in the time, and I think that’s half the battle.

Next, this heavy responsibility will be transferred to teachers. Teaching and educating people is to help us broaden our future path when we are young. We have heard many stories of this sacred profession, of teachers who lead us through the dark cave with an oil lamp. So discovering that burning urge is the first step to finding talent.

The 10,000-hour rule is a law pointed out by the author Gladwell in his book “Outliers“. “what makes a genius in people’s eyes extraordinary is not supernatural talent, but continuous effort, 10,000 hours of tempering, a person. A necessary condition for going from ordinary to world-class master.” He called this “The 10,000-Hour Rule”. It takes 10,000 hours (1.1415525 years) to become an expert in a field, which is proportional to this: If you work eight hours a day, five days a week, it takes at least five years to become an expert in a field.

The world’s most talented sprinter would not have been able to claim the title of an Olympic champion without training hard, day in and day out. Just like a flower can’t bloom without you watering it. Water your talent with sweat, and it will bloom eventually.

When we discover talent, it is more important to cherish our own talent. At this time, some people may refute me: I spent 10,000 hours on one thing, I put in 99% of my efforts, why did I not see my talent or find success. In that case, I think 10,000 hours is just a foundation, and the thing of greater importance is to learn, think, and improve. Efforts do not necessarily lead to success. Efforts only give you a chance to succeed. If you don’t work hard, you will never succeed. If a person is only complaining about not getting what they want after spending 10,000 hours , let’s go back to the first question, do you love it or not. I think if I spent 10,000 hours doing something I like, I’d imagine that I should be happier, and I will figure out how to do it better. Just as I persist in writing now, I don’t mean that I want to become a writer or novelist, but this puts me at ease and makes me experience life, realize the meaning of life; when I manage to express my emotions and thoughts through words, I will experience wonderful feelings and a sense of accomplishment. Here, I also hope that everyone can find love and comfort in your work.

I don’t know if you have read Wang Anshi’s “Scarring ZhongYong“, which told of a prodigy who was originally extremely talented but became an ordinary person. When we were young, we often saw stories of talented young people who were admitted to Tsinghua University and Peking University at a young age. We saw the beginning of the story, but did not witness the end of the miracle. It is regrettable and unacceptable to waste talent, which is why people always measure talent by success, and talent needs to be persistent.

“Finding one’s own talent in where love also resides, persist with hard work and there will be a moment it will burst into bloom.”

The last thing I want to discuss with you all is, what are you going to do with your talents? Just as I have written this essay, it would be a really good deed if I could inspire my readers to seek out their talents. I hope that when I am reflecting, I also lead everyone to think together, taking it as a relaxing activity. Let’s say the Olympic athletes win glory for the country, the violinists give people an unparalleled concert, just as I’m listening to Beethoven’s piano music right now as I write.

The sages of the past and present have used their talents to change our living environment and received the edification of art. In the same way, our modern people are also benefiting future generations. We should use our talents to give back to the society and the country.

Here I suddenly thought of another topic, because we always say “with great power, comes great responsibility”, the more outstanding the talent, the more burden there is. Everyone should know that “Heaven is jealous of talents”, extraordinary talents will bring more expectations, and amazing creations may come from unimaginable suffering. To know that the Heavens has given you such a big gift, you must be able to receive it and bear its weight. I hope that all talented people can bear the weight of life, use their abilities and talents to make due contributions to our motherland and society, set our youth ablaze, and realize the value of our life.
