Li Xuezheng released a statement on his 金盾云学院 weibo account and in a matter of hours, both 金盾云学院 and 金盾影视中心 accounts were muted under 违反法律法规 violation of the law.

News of Li Xuezheng’s statement reporting the official, is reported in Hong Kong and overseas news media but pointedly, not in mainland China.

Beijing Golden Shield Publishing put out another statement
which does not allude to Li Xuezheng’s wechat statement regarding issues for early breach of contract with 金盾影视中心, but reiterates the ‘revoke order’ of this company, which gives the impression that 金盾影视中心 is not a partnership, but its subsidiary.
It further states that no organization can use “金盾影视中心” or “金盾影视中心主任” which had been Li Xuezheng’s position since this company was set up, in any activity, or it will be illegal and infringement of rights. They also reserve the rights for further legal action.

Who is this association 中国广播电视社会组织联合会 that put out a statement to ‘dismiss’ Li Xuezheng from his role as one of its many serving Vice Presidents?
Li Xuezheng was voted in as one of its VPs in July 2022 ( see attached news report below ).
Why a week after? On March 23, Li Xuezheng’s statement already stated he is resigning from his duties from the entire Film and TV entertainment industry, in order to report the official and cooperate with all necessary investigations.
Can they, or do they still need to dismiss someone, who under their association guidelines, seems to be a voluntary position, an entire week after they publicly ‘resigned’?
Was this done as an attempt of a display of influence and power?
Or in a strange roundabout way, news of what Li Xuezheng has done did manage to reach the association despite being unreported or seen in public?
However it is worth noting that the wording 免去 sounds more like a dismissal from the association, rather than accepting a resignation from Li Xuezheng’s side.
It also appears that the 28 July 2022 report which includes Li Xuezheng’s appointment is now no longer displayed on the assocation’s website.

Applauded for his decision to not bow to industry pressures to spend a large marketing budget in order to ‘buy TV ratings’ during the airing of [In the Name of the People] , the drama still had a fantastic run during its airing. He had also resisted and fought back against an official who tried to pull the drama from the air when the official in question, had felt the drama was coincidentally alluding to him. The ex-official Wang Li ke instead was later arrested and subsequently investigated and convicted on corruption charges.
After Li Xuezheng took an interest in Zhang Zhehan’s case on Nov24 2021, he voiced his concerns with CAPA’s ‘cancellation’ processes, Li Xuezheng had been initially able to prevent his social media accounts from being muted, was able to do live streams to discuss this case. However after his accounts was muted in January 2022, and all social media accounts in his name, from weibo to douyin etc, were all deleted from Chinese cyberspace in early April 2022,
QUICK RECAP OF 2022 – 2023
Early January 2022, at the time Li Xuezheng’s weibo account had been muted, he had around 1.62M followers. He was already a big V with 1M following, before he spoke about Zhang Zhehan’s case.
He had been posting about a certain publication by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism board, which had guided China citizens to view the very same Sakura park outside the Yasukuni Shrine which Zhang Zhehan had been ‘convicted without fair trial’ for.
It seems once the news about the guide was made known to netizens, it was suddenly pulled from sales on all platforms and according to netizens, physical copies were destroyed.
That was one of the last posts by Li Xuezheng before his account was muted.
The Beijing Golden Shield Publishing, had issued a statement in Jan 2022 to declare that Golden Shield Television Center officially moves with Golden Shield Publishing, from the Logistic Support Dept of the CEntral Military Govt Dept 军委后勤保障部 to an unspecified Central organization, at the end of 2021
Li Xuezheng’s role will not be affected by the suspension of his personal social media accounts.
Looking back, this shift might have been a subjugation move.
There were attempts to impersonate Li Xuezheng on platforms like Twitter, and 金盾影视中心 released public statement to declare they are not real.
There were also slanders being spread that Li Xuezheng knew Zhang Zhehan from before, which was why he was helping him now.
Thus, as a well respected Director in ‘good standing’, Li Xuezheng was still able to appear in various industry news and was appointed to prominent positions in his field of work.
However, Li Xuezheng never stopped in his work to seek justice and was continuously fighting for ‘the cause’ behind the scenes. He continued to write and champion for the rights of ‘citizens’.
In March 2022, 司马南 Sima Nan, Chinese television pundit, social commentator, and journalist had commended Li Xuezheng in a video, which was also made available on his Youtube channel.
In November 2022, Li Xuezheng have attempted to appeal to get his social accounts back.
However, it would appear he was not successful.
November 2022, 新华社 interviewed Li Xuezheng and Sima Nan had helped to boost the article to his own followers. Sima Nan commented that he was ‘reminded’ in a vague manner, not to do that. Sima Nan was muted for a few days after that, although it is unclear if there was any direct relation to this matter. However, after that, he no longer posted about Li Xuezheng.
Up until March 2023, Golden Shield Television Center and Golden Shield Cloud Institute accounts still announced new productions.

When he spoke up for Zhang Zhehan’s case, Li Xuezheng has repeatedly reiterated that this case was not only one person’s issue, it is also about unhealthy monopoly issues within the Chinese entertainment industry; it is also a society issue which depends on the legal system to be able to defend and protect an individual’s rights.
If anyone, even a famous celebrity like Zhang himself can be ‘cancelled’ and ‘socially killed’ without any due procedure in this way, what will become of normal citizens? He strongly felt the legal system should be able to help citizens enforce their rights.
Now that he will no longer in the public eye, we can’t help but wonder if his voice will be able to reach the right people who needs to hear it?
It would appear some other groups with other interests would like to propel his case into the murky waters of political factions and power struggles.
Some reports have ‘analysts’ commenting on the situation and they have this comment “It is obvious from Li Xuezheng’s references to legal system and rights, that he has no one to back him, otherwise he can just go ‘upwards’ ( to seek his superiors for help ).
“陈用林认为，李学政宣布要维权，说明他在上面其实没什么大靠山，「上面有大人物他就不用维权了，自己找上面的人就行了」。”
Let us hope that even if he has no one ‘above’ him who can extend him a helping hand, he will still have some brave people behind him, alongside him, to keep fighting the good fight.
